Though the goal is usually to save an existing tooth, an extraction is sometimes necessary.
Wisdom teeth often need extracting because they can become impacted and fail to emerge above the gumline. These molars, that show themselves in people between the ages of 17 and 25, can push the other teeth out of alignment because there may not be enough room for them along the jawline. Also, because the teeth are in the farthest corners of the mouth, they can be difficult to clean and cause decay and complications if not kept up properly.
Other oral surgeries we perform in our office include root canals, implants, bone grafting, and more.
What Happens at an Appointment
X-rays will be taken to get a closer look at the teeth. A local anesthetic is used to numb the area for a painless procedure. Sedation options are available to help ease anxiety, if necessary. After-care instructions will be given and a follow-up appointment scheduled if needed. Please call our office for questions or to book an appointment at 905-889-0000.
